Commitment to Preservation
IJDIR acknowledges its responsibility to maintain a permanent and reliable record of published research. Digital preservation ensures that published articles remain accessible to researchers, clinicians, and the public even in the event of technological changes, publisher transitions, or unforeseen circumstances affecting the journal's operations.
Archival Formats
All published articles are archived in multiple formats to ensure long-term usability:
- PDF/A — ISO-standardised archival PDF format
- XML (JATS) — Journal Article Tag Suite XML, the international standard for journal content interoperability
- HTML — Web-accessible full text for immediate readability
- Supplementary materials — Archived alongside the primary article in original formats
Archiving Services
IJDIR commits to archiving published content through recognised digital preservation services. Planned archiving partnerships include:
| Service | Type | Status |
|---|---|---|
| LOCKSS | Distributed preservation network | 🔄 Planned |
| CLOCKSS | Dark archive (triggered access) | 🔄 Planned |
| CrossRef | DOI persistence & metadata | ✅ Active |
| Internet Archive | Web content archiving | ✅ Active |
| PKP Preservation Network | Open-source preservation | 🔄 Planned |
🔒 Dark Archive
In the event that IJDIR ceases publication, archived content will remain accessible through the CLOCKSS dark archive, which triggers access upon specified conditions (e.g., journal cessation), ensuring the permanent availability of all published research.
Persistent Identifiers
Every published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through CrossRef. DOIs are permanent identifiers that resolve to the article regardless of URL changes. CrossRef maintains DOI records indefinitely, ensuring that citation links to IJDIR articles remain functional.
IJDIR also supports ORCID integration for author identification, providing persistent researcher identity linking across publications.
Continuity of Access
In the event that IJDIR undergoes a change of ownership, merges with another publication, or ceases operations, the following commitments are made:
- All published content will be transferred to a successor publisher or deposited in an open archive
- DOI resolution will be maintained through CrossRef
- Authors will be notified of any significant changes to the journal's publication arrangements
- No published article will be intentionally removed from public access
